Whether you're traveling with your whole family or visiting them, you can take advantage of all the great free activities in Virginia. We've compiled a list of some free things to do during a visit, as well as links to some other great places in the Commonwealth.
Roanoke, Virginia, is full of free places to explore without spending a lot of money, and it's one of the best places in the Commonwealth to do that!
In fact, Roanoke is home to one of the largest breweries in the United States, the Soaring Ridge Craft Brewers. If you're traveling to southwest Virginia and looking for the nearest craft beer hot spot, there are many breweries that call the Roenoke Valley home. Of course, there are many, but it has also attracted a number of other local breweries, such as Blue Ridge Brewing Company, and if you're interested in being part of the future brewery district in Roaoke, Virginia, then the Craft Brewers of Soared Ridge have a tavern overlooking downtown and the Roanokes Valley.

If you need to escape the city for a few days, you can enjoy this unique experience for only a few hours. But if you don't have enough time, the Museum of Transportation should be your first stop on your list of things - to - do - in - Roaoke - Virginia.
The Olin Hall Galleries at Roanoke College in the city of Salem offer you the opportunity to discover unique artworks created by artists here in the Roaoke Valley. Travelling writer Teresa Bitler also visited Roenoke, so take a look at what she has to do and see in the area.
The Roanoke Valley Visitor Center is located next to the historic train station and offers a wide range of local activities, including hiking, biking, camping and hiking. This scenic side road runs along the Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia and is ideal for a day trip to Roenoke. Roanoke Virginia also has some metropolitan areas located at the intersection of two major highways, I-95 and the Virginia - North Carolina - South Carolina line.
Easily accessible from Blue Ridge Parkway, Roanoke can be a breathtaking time to drive this scenic route in any season. I'm tempted to end up in Rooney's position but it's too far away to miss.
