Roanoke Virginia Museums

Roanoke, Virginia, is one of my absolute favorite places in the United States of America, because of its amazing museums. The perfect destination for a weekend getaway, Va. Roanokes is a beautiful town surrounded by the picturesque Blue Ridge Mountains.

There are eight entry points to the park in the Roanoke region, and the closest to the city center is a 10-minute drive away. Located just a short walk from downtown Roansoke, the Berglund Center is one of Virginia's most popular museums and the second largest in North America. This is the perfect introduction to Roenoke as locals know it, but it is also home to some metropolitan areas that are located right on the Virginia-North Carolina border, such as Richmond and Charlottesville, Virginia.

Located in the heart of downtown Roanoke, the museum has the largest collection of Virginia art in North America and is one of the most popular museums in America.

With the largest collection of Virginia art in the United States, as well as local pieces from the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, the museum also includes a variety of local pieces aimed at West Virginia and the Appalachians. Center Square also offers a number of museums - based attractions such as the Roanoke Art Museum, a children's museum and an art gallery.

If you're wondering what to do with your kids while in Roanoke, your best choice is to explore the city on the trails. The surrounding Blue Ridge region in Virginia and West Virginia, as well as parts of North Carolina and Tennessee, offers excellent hiking, biking and canoeing trails. In fact, there are more hiking trails on the Blue Ridge in Virginia than in any other state in the United States, with more than 1,000 miles of trails in total.

Better still, add the Blue Ridge Parkway, the scenic Virginia back street that can be explored from Roanoke and other parts of the state. By car, you can enjoy scenic views of Virginia, North Carolina and Tennessee, as well as Red River Gorge, Great Smoky Mountains National Park and, in my (completely biased) opinion, the most scenic road in North and South America.

No list of activities in Roanoke, VA would be complete without a visit to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. This view is one of the best prospects in the entire state of Virginia and perhaps even the whole country.

This museum in downtown Roansburg houses works by renowned American artists and has an extensive collection of artifacts from the United States, Canada and other countries.
